You should put some archers up there to fire away at them for a while (who you should withdraw before the enemy shows), but fighting at the walls means giving up the serious advantage of the no flee zone known as the town square. Don’t fight at the walls unless the numbers are about even. If Christianity wants a peace of me, well, I always have Conan’s prayer of revenge :)

I am contemplating going full heretic, not like my priests are doing anything good at all anyways. There is only ONE faction offered me an alliance: the Moor. Almost everyone seems to be smelling the blood on the water. The Spaniards keep moving troops around, looking suspiciously like they want to join on the gang bang, and my emissaries have had no luck whatsoever getting alliances or stopping people from banging at our gates.

The Danes, traitorous dogs who had appeared to be friendly with me, have apparently undertaken a crusade to rid the world of my merchants, with absolute success. In the continent, the Pope, curse his black soul, has forbidden me to shred any more french blood, but the french themselves don’t seem to mind it, as they keep besieging my cities. So now my enemies have successfully opened a second front, the Islands aren’t secure anymore and I have to devote resources to the garrisons in Scotland and England. Man after that battle I laid back in my seat and looked at the screen for while, considered reloading, but then thought “screw it, this is awesome”. Waylaid at sea by the Portuguese navy, their good English chap souls now rest at the bottom of the ocean.Īt Dublin, the Portuguese king himself died at the gates of the city, and for a while it look like I might just pull trough, but after a ferocious, bitter, no quarter given, touch and go battle, Dublin fell along my family heir, who fought to the death in the town’s center square long after the bodies of his personal guard all lay around him. While we battled on the city gates, my fleet had done a turnabout to pick some troops up and deliver them by sea, which I considered fastest way to come from the continent. Meanwhile, up in the walls, my archers led a valiant, if ultimately doomed attempt to hold their advancing troops. Not sure what they pack, but my quad formation of spear men at the gates was overwhelmed and massacred to the last man. Archers burned 2 of their 3 battering rams and 1 of their towers before they broke trough. In a surprise attack the Portuguese launched a massive amphibious invasion of Dublin, before my ships could intercept their fleet. The french have been getting whupped consistently, but now I have Milan and the Portuguese knocking at the doors. That gave me a few more turns, but now it seems all of Christianity is against me, even tho relationships with Rome appear to be “neutral”. It says stop hostilities or make peace? Because stop hostilities means no sieges or attacks.
